miscellaneous musings 02
new series that feels very heritage bread + butter
Think Tumblr circa 2012. A fun filler post that will recur when I’m in the musing mood, or when I’m not obsessed with another post I’ve been working on. Maybe sometimes just photos and no text. Maybe sometimes just stream-of-consciousness thoughts and no visuals. A wildcard.
In this case, I haven’t been able to ‘land the plane’ on two things I’ve been writing, so I thought it was as good a time as any to send out this draft of random images that I’ve pinned, bookmarked, or screenshotted over the last couple of weeks —a collection of kitchen inspo, quotes, marble bathtubs, snippets of wisdom, etc. In addition, a handful of other things that I think are worthy of your time / dollars.
With the change of season, I’m in the mood to nest. I’m in the mood to never lay eyes on my suitcase, credit card bill, or toiletry bag again. Well, at least for a long while. I’m in the mood to consume — books, braises, body-butter, TV & movies, candles and cashmere blankets, really anything within the confines of home. I’m in a biiig Pinterest phase again and have been trying to replace my time spent scrolling on TikTok before bed with time spent making mood boards for every corner of my life — warding off brain-rot with brain-boost as I visualize my dream life. Interestingly, I’m less in the mood to make new purchases, and more in the mood to reimagine my current possessions, so that’s cool!
Some suggestions for consumption
Two old movies and two new tv shows — A Perfect Murder with Gwyneth Paltrow & Michael Douglas. God I love a late 90’s suspenseful drama. Her outfits are reason alone to watch. The Thomas Crown Affair (both 1968 and 1999 remake). Nobody Wants This — Erin Foster’s new show, which is the best thing to happen to RomCom lovers (me) in years. And lastly, Monsters, which tells the very dark story of Lyle and Erik Menendez. Admittedly, I’m mostly watching for the 80’s LA vibes.
Intermezzo. Just picked up a copy today and can’t wait to start this. I think Sally Rooney is brilliant and I love her writing style so so much. Fingers crossed this also gets adapted into a series.
It’s colored-socks-with-loafers season. Just discovered the shop Mes Chaussettes Rouges (my red socks) and got these in Paris, but also love these or these from Cos.
A heated blanket. Forget weighted blankets… crank up the heat and put it under your covers before tucking in for the night…euphoric. Can someone make an aesthetic version please?
Sarah Vaughan radio on Spotify. To play in the background whilst braising or scrolling through the images below…
